Your situation · Marketplace sellers
Web developer for marketplace sellers
If your business runs on Amazon, eBay or TikTok Shop, you don't fully own the platform you depend on. I've been part of a business that sold across Amazon FBA and FBM, eBay and TikTok Shop, so I know it first-hand: these are powerful places to sell, but a rule change, an automated ban or a deactivated listing can pull the floor out from under you overnight. I build you a shop that's genuinely yours: your platform, your customers, your rules, to sell alongside the marketplaces rather than depend on them. It comes handed over with free AI maintenance training, so you can add features and run it yourself without coming back to anyone.
What gets in the way
- No real ownership. You build a business on a platform whose rules can change without warning. A single rule change deactivated a main revenue product in a business I was part of; on your own platform that decision is never someone else's to make.
- Automated bans and listing challenges. Accounts get suspended and listings flagged by automated systems, and traction you've built can vanish before you can appeal.
- Hidden and stacking fees. To stay visible you end up paying to advertise, which eats the margin; FBA adds its own charges on top.
- You hand over control of your stock. With FBA, Amazon holds your inventory, and if you don't arrange a removal order they can dispose of it and charge you for the disposal, racking up debt on the account.
- No direct line to your customers. You can't market to them the way you choose (no promotion inside your own parcels, no customer list you own), because the relationship belongs to the platform.
- No control over how you operate. Shipping times, shipping methods and how you present your brand are all shaped by the platform's rules, not yours.
- All eggs in one basket. When most revenue depends on one marketplace, a ban or a lost listing can stop the business dead.
What I'd build
Marketplace selling means ongoing cost and limits baked in: a monthly Pro-seller subscription, or the restrictions free accounts run into. A one-time build ends that monthly cost and those limits: the platform is yours. Paired with the free AI maintenance training, you can keep adding features yourself rather than paying for every change, extra value that the rented platforms don't give you.
Questions
Do I have to stop selling on Amazon, eBay or TikTok Shop?
No. The point isn't to replace the marketplaces. It's to stop depending on them alone. You sell on multiple platforms already, so why not also sell somewhere you own outright? Your own shop runs alongside them, so you keep the reach while building something that can't be switched off by someone else.
What actually happens if my marketplace account gets banned?
On a marketplace, a ban or a deactivated listing can stop your revenue with little warning and no guaranteed way back. I've seen a main product deactivated by a rule change first-hand. With FBA there's an added risk: if your account is closed and you don't arrange a removal order, your stock can be disposed of and you can be charged for it. A shop you own is unaffected by any of that. It stays up, and your customers stay yours.
Will I be able to manage the shop myself afterwards?
Yes, that's deliberate. The build is handed over with free AI maintenance training so you can add features and make changes yourself, without a retainer or coming back to me for every tweak. You own the platform and the means to run it.
Can I run shipping and customer contact the way I want?
Yes. On your own shop you set your shipping times and methods, present your brand how you like, and can build a direct relationship with your customers, the things a marketplace keeps under its own control.
